FG Gives ‘Critical’ Clarification On June 12 Public Holidays

The Nigerian Government has now made an urgent clarification on the June 12 public holidays as declared by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In the evening of Wednesday, the President had declared that the Democracy Day will now be celebrated in June 12 in the honor of Late Moshood Abiola and public holiday to that respect from 2019.

But, some Nigerians had felt that there will public holiday next week as a result of the new development to Democracy Day.

In a notice to clarify, the Presidency stated that there will be no Federal public holiday on June 12, 2018 until next year.

The tweet from the Presidency this afternoon reads:

“NOTICE:

There have been questions regarding whether or not there will be a FEDERAL public holiday on June 12, 2018.

The answer is NO.

Presidential Order says June 12 “in FUTURE YEARS will replace May 29th as a National Public Holiday in celebration of Nigeria Democracy Day.”
